MAYWOOD, Il. -- The new 4th Edition of Practical Neurology, the respected "real-life" guide to diagnosing and managing neurologic disorders, has been completely rewritten to reflect the many advances over the past decade.
The 748-page text is edited by Jos Biller, MD, an internationally known neurologist and chair of the Department of Neurology of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
Practical Neurology Fourth Edition (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins) provides a wealth of practical information for practicing clinicians, residents and fellows.
Section 1 includes 35 chapters on the diagnosis of a broad range of conditions, including dementia; seizures; gait disturbances; sleep disorders; facial pain, numbness and weakness; dizziness; hearing loss; sexual dysfunction; headache; neck and back pain; and pain in the extremities.
Section 2 includes 23 chapters on treatment for such conditions as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, dementia, chronic pain, nervous system complications of cancer and neurologic diseases in pregnancy.
Contributing authors are well-established clinicians and educators who have a talent for making neurologic information accessible and understandable.
